Iโm participating in the next @sas.reading.series on October 2nd along with Alex Benedict, Twyla Sampaco and Susan Viguers. This FREE virtual program, organized by @gorhamab and @newlightspress ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐ธ๐ธ๐ด ๐ช๐ป๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ผ ๐ช๐ท ๐ธ๐น๐น๐ธ๐ป๐ฝ๐พ๐ท๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ ๐ฝ๐ธ ๐ป๐ฎ๐ช๐ญ-๐ฏ๐ป๐ธ๐ถ ๐ฝ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐ธ๐ป๐ด in the vein of a literary reading, but with a visual object as its origin. After two years of doing public readings solo and with friends @chrissykolaya and @vidhuaggarwal_wall , Iโve really been enjoying this new way of sharing my work, as both แฉแ แฉแTIแT แฉแแช แฏแITแดแ, and I canโt wait to see how the other ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ approach their task. Iโll be sharing a new video artistโs book, ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ that Iโve been editing since its debut at Edition/Basel residency earlier this summer (clip on the last slide) and hereโs a bit about it:
โ.....the textโboth handwritten and spokenโ is interwoven with footage of one of the many public fountains in Basel, Switzerland in which swimming is allowed in water sourced from the nearby Rhein river. Through writing and drawings inspired by and adapted from Patterns in the Void: Why Nothing is Important by astronomer/author Sten F. Odenwald, Simmons explores Odenwaldโs philosophical and scientific efforts to define the Void for his readers, while simultaneously expressing her sense of confusion and frustration about our limitations in seeking answers to unanswerable questions.โ
